Britons have become obsessed with cleanliness during the pandemic, with more than 40 per cent of those surveyed keen to deep-clean their homes before restrictions ease next week.

The research, conducted by Halo Appliances, found that Brits are becoming more aware of the cleanliness of their homes.

Of those interviewed by the vacuum company, 20 per cent said they had taken on additional cleaning measures while 25 per cent said their cleaning habits had increased.

The rise could be attributed to spending more time at home on social media watching cleaning stars Ellen O’Keefe and Lynsey Queen of Clean, the research suggested.

From Monday, May 17, up to six people from two households can meet indoors, with overnight stays allowed.

Although this is good news for many, some 40 per cent of Brits surveyed admit they will be focusing on deep cleaning their homes before having any guests come over.

Paul Bagwell, Founder and CEO of Halo Appliances, said: “Customers tell us that cleaning has become therapeutic since the national lockdown.

“It seems we are all spending much more time cleaning and looking after our homes.”
