Britney Spears told court she wanted to have another baby - but dad Jamie was against it

Britney Spears told a court official that she wanted to have a baby with her boyfriend Sam Asghari, however her dad Jamie was against the idea, a new report claims.

The Baby One More Time singer, 38, was entered into a legally mandated conservatorship - also known as a legal guardianship - lead by her father Jamie, and has not been able to live her life freely since 2008.

Britney last year hoped to start a family with her boyfriend of three years but was unable to because of her father's input.

A source told UsWeekly : "Britney told the probate investigator late last year she wanted to have a baby. Her dad [Jamie Spears] had always been against Britney getting pregnant."

Britney is already a mother to two boys - Sean, 14, and Jayden, 13, - whom she shares with DJ ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Each year, the probate court compels the parties involved to justify their reasoning for continuing the conservatorship, and for more than a decade now, the star's dad has not let the mum-of-two live her life independantly.

Her fans have started a #FreeBritney movement in a bid to free her from her father's control.

The legal guardianship she is placed under required Britney to follow the direction of lawyers and medical consultants, including her 67-year-old father, who make up both sides of her conservatorship team.

Britney's breakdown and hospitalisation - which saw her shave her whole head in 2008 - sparked legal action from her father to seek legal guardianship.

It comes as it was revealed last week that her conservatorship has been extended until at least late August after a judge decided to postpone a hearing due to the  coronavirus  outbreak.

Jamie relinquished his conservatorship powers in September last year – with care manager  Jodi Montgomery then being put in charge of Britney.

Last week, Entertainment Tonight reported that this conservatorship has now been extended to at least 22 August 2020 after judge Brenda Penny issued the extension.

Mirror Online has contacted Britney's reps for comment.
