Britney Spears walked into an LA sheriff's office with purpose just one day before her shocking court appearance during which she battled against her conservatorship.
In a staggering display, the music icon spoke out at the Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday as she took to the stand in a bid to remove her dad from her 'abusive' 13-year-long legal arrangement.
Prior to the bombshell hearing, Britney, 39, was spotted on Tuesday leaving the Ventura County Sheriff’s department, which is near her multi-million dollar home in California.
The star was accompanied by a bodyguard as she walked out of the building wearing a long grey cardigan, white shorts and platform sandals.
The Toxic singer was also sporting a white, creased shirt and tortoiseshell sunglasses while her long blonde mane was scraped back into a bun.
Britney's visit to the sheriff's came before she dropped several bombshell claims, which have shocked her fans around the world.
During her courtroom appearance yesterday Britney urged a judge to remove her father from her conservatorship saying she wants to be "free".
The battle over her estate, which is worth over £40 million, has been going on since August when her attorney filed to remove her father Jamie as a conservator.
Under the current ruling, Jamie, 68, is in control of his daughter's financial and business decisions.
And the Baby One More Time singer made a string of comments as she spoke directly to Superior Judge Brenda Penny about her life under the restrictions of the conservatorship.
She told the Judge how she was made to feel "like I was dead" last time she spoke to the court and insisted she deserves changes.
She emotionally revealed that "it's a lie saying I'm happy" and confessed that she is "traumatised".
In a statement that shocked the courtroom Britney claimed that the closest thing to her conservatorship was sex trafficking.
The singer told the judge: "In California, the only similar thing to this is called sex trafficking, making anyone work against their will, taking all their possessions away, credit card, cash, phone, passport."
Britney also claimed that she had been put on lithium against her will.
She described: "It's a strong drug. You can go mentally impaired if you stay on it longer than five months. I felt drunk, I couldn't even have a conversation with my mom or dad about anything. They had me with six different nurses."
Lithium is well known to be treated for bipolar disorder. The disorder can often cause episodes of depression and mania and can lead to a feeling of uncontrolled irritability or excitement.
The drug can also be used to treat depression.
In court, Britney didn't disclose any possible medical condition for her to be on the drug.
The star has recently said she has "no idea" if she will ever return to the stage in a short question and answer session on Instagram.
Her dad Jamie did share a short statement during the case in which he said he "misses his daughter" and was "sorry to see his daughter in so much pain".
