Britney Spears sheds 5lbs over 'stress' as she's released from rehab

Britney Spears revealed she's lost 5lbs due to 'stress,' following reports she voluntarily checked herself into a mental health facility last month.

As her 30 day program nears an end, the singer took to Instagram to show off her taut stomach as she worked out in a crop top and low-rise jogging bottoms.

37-year-old Britney gave fans a look at her energetic routine which involved lifting weights followed by sit ups on an exercise ball.

The Lucky songstress also bust out some of her old dance moves, as she writhed her hips in time to the music.

"Who knew stress would be a great 5 pound weight loss. Yay for me," Britney gushed in the caption as she posted the home footage to Instagram along with two winking emojis.

Britney was reported to have been struggling in recent weeks after her dad Jamie fell seriously ill and underwent emergency surgery when his colon ruptured.

The singer announced an 'indefinite hiatus' from all work commitments - including her lucrative Las Vegas residency.

In April it was reported Britney had checked herself into a mental health facility after suffering 'severe emotional distress' in the wake of her father's illness.

According to TMZ, Britney will leave the treatment centre today.

The news comes days after the star broke her silence to assure fans 'all was well' following rumours about her troubles.

Speaking to the camera, Britney said: "Hi guys, just checking in with all those that were concerned about me. All is well.

"My family has been going through a lot of stress and anxiety lately, so I needed time to deal but don't worry, I will be back very soon."

She then added: "You may not know this about me, but I am strong, and stand up for what I want! Your love and dedication is amazing, but what I need right now is a little bit of privacy to deal with all the hard things that life is throwing my way. If you could do that, I would be forever grateful. Love you."

Earlier this year Britney and her family were left devastated when her dad Jamie underwent emergency surgery following a life-threatening illness.

The 66-year-old grandad battled back from a near fatal colon rupture.

In January Britney opened up about the family drama in a post on Twitter saying: "I don’t even know where to start with this, because this is so tough for me to say.

"I will not be performing my new show Domination. I’ve been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart.

"However, it’s important to always put your family first… and that’s the decision I had to make.

"A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died.
