Britney Spears 'released from mental health facility following treatment'

Britney Spears has been released from the mental health facility where she has been receiving treatment for 'severe emotional distress.'

The singer voluntarily checked herself in last month after her father Jamie almost died when he suffered a ruptured colon.

Britney, 37, first announced an 'indefinite hiatus' on all work commitments -including her Las Vegas residency - to spend time with her family.

Weeks later she entered into a 30-day program amid reports she was struggling to cope with her 66-year-old dad's health crisis.

Over the last month the pop star occasionally left the facility and was spotted going to get frozen yogurt and having a relaxing day at a Beverley Hills hotel with boyfriend Sam Asghari over Easter.

It was Sam, Britney's boyfriend of three years, who reportedly came to pick her up on Thursday.

A source told Entertainment Tonight Sam has been an unwavering source of support throughout Britney's troubles.

They said: "Sam has truly been there for Britney. He encouraged her to get the help that she needs. He's supported her through the difficult decision to check into a facility, and he's been there to support her throughout."

Sam also reached out to fans amid mounting concerns when Britney was reported to be receiving help.

He assured his girlfriend was 'going amazing' and said there was no need to worry about her.

Speaking to TMZ reporters, Sam said: "She's doing amazing, thankfully her fans are so amazing to be concerned... but she's doing great."

Speaking to the camera she said: ""Hi guys, just checking in with all those that were concerned about me. All is well.

"My family has been going through a lot of stress and anxiety lately, so I needed time to deal but don't worry, I will be back very soon."

Days later she also showed she was making a comeback by sharing a video of her working out and practising her dance moves on Instagram .

Its not the first time Britney has battled back from her troubles.

In 2007 she endured a highly public breakdown  at the height of her fame and subsequently checked into rehab.

In the aftermath her dad Jamie Spears and attorney Andrew Wallett assumed legal responsibility for all of her affairs.

The conservatorship was later made permanent forcing the mum-of-two to seek permission in almost every area of her life.

Following reports of Britney's latest mental health battles, devoted fans have begun protesting the conservatorship which has now been in place for ten years.

Fans gathered outside West Hollywood City Hall this week chanting 'Free Britney' and brandishing pink banners to support their idol.
