Britney Spears 'preparing for TV chat with Oprah to discuss conservatorship battle'

Britney Spears is reportedly considering a sit down, tell-all chat with talkshow icon Oprah Winfrey discuss the ins and outs of her controversial conservatorship battle.

The 39-year-old pop star has been making progress in her fight to regain control of her own life in recent weeks – after giving evidence in court in an effort to repeal the conservatorship that’s been in place since 2008 to the fact her father has reportedly stepped down from his position of control on her life.

Now reports have suggested Britney is looking to discuss her trials and tribulations with Oprah in a similar style to the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle interview that stunned the world back in March.

According to reports, the singer’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, is “open” to the suggestion the star will speak publicly about her ordeal.

A source told The Sun on Sunday: “Britney has been approached by lots of outlets to do a sit down, but Oprah would be her first choice.”

However, certain legal steps are said to still be in place before the singer can fully discuss her conservatorship battle in the spotlight.

At the end of last week, Britney posted a video of herself dancing on Instagram – seemingly in response to the news that her father is stepping down as her conservator.

The singer has been under a court order to follow the decisions of her father – who has had control of her financial and personal decisions since 2008.

Taking to social media on Friday, Britney shared a video of herself smiling and twirling while wearing a black lace outfit.

She simply captioned the video with three pouting emojis, sharing her happiness with fans.

She appeared to be celebrating her freedom after 13 years of being in a conservatorship with dad Jamie being in control of her estate, and agreeing to step down in court documents filed on Thursday.

Taking to the comments section, fans were quick to celebrate her future freedom.

One person wrote: "Happy for your freedom. I wish you'll shine more and more!" – while another wrote: "YOURE FREEEEEEEEE."

In the documents obtained by The Sun last week, Mr Spears' lawyer writes: "There are, in fact, no actual grounds for suspending or removing Mr Spears as the Conservator of the Estate and it is highly debatable whether a change in conservator at this time would be in Ms Spears' best interests."

Britney's father, Jamie Spears, this past week stepped down as Britney's guardian (Instagram)

"Nevertheless, even as Mr Spears is the unremitting target of unjustified attacks, he does not believe that a public battle with his daughter over his continuing service as her conservator would be in her best interests.

"Regardless of his formal title, Mr Spears will always be Ms Spears' father, he will always love her unconditionally, and he will always look out for her best interests."

Britney previously claimed her conservatorship is "abusive", comparing her treatment to those who have been sex-trafficked.
