The February documentary “Framing Britney Spears” garnered the attention of fans of the 39-year-old pop star but left many of them concerned about her well-being as new details regarding her personal life were revealed.
Though she was the subject of the documentary, Spears was not interviewed despite best efforts from director Samantha Stark. As a result of Spears’ absence, fans were left to assume her feelings toward the documentary by going through her social media activity.
Picking up on her fan reactions, in a Monday Instagram post, Spears captioned a 2020 video of her that she was, “happy to share especially with a world that is empathetic and concerned with my life.”
However, this was not the first time Spears acknowledged her feelings towards the documentary. In another Instagram post from March 30, Spears admitted that she, “didn’t watch the documentary but from what I did see of it I was embarrassed by the light they put me in ... I cried for two weeks and well .... I still cry sometimes.”
Prior to those two dates, Spears never directly acknowledged the documentary and the toll it has taken on her, but has still made headlines with her recent court filing against her father Jamie Spears that would force him relinquish his role as her conservator in favor of a state-appointed one.
“I’m working on allowing myself to not be so strong all the time and to know it’s ok to cry!!!!” Spears said on March 1. “I pray for deep healing this year for all of us and I hope we can inspire each other!!! Again...BE KIND-PASS IT ON AMERICA.”
