It's the Britney Spears track fans are obsessed with... but songwriting icon Guy Chambers has revealed it may never see the light of day.
Chambers – best known for his musical partnership with Robbie Williams – has most recently been turning his hand to satirising Christmas hits in the new film, A Christmas Number One.
But in a chat with the Diary he spoke about songs in his illustrious career that have previously been turned down.
He says: “I wrote a song with Britney that’s never come out called Sacred. In the many Britney fan communities it’s their holy grail, but they’ve never heard it, they’ve only heard about it.”
And the reason it was never released? Her potty-mouth, as this was very much the pre-“It’s Britney, bitch” era.
“She said ‘f***’ in it,” said Chambers. “This was in about 2006, her imperial phase, when she was huge.
“She was trying to rebel from the cleaner side of Britney, I suppose, and I should have said no, but I didn’t, I let her do what she wanted.” And so it was consigned to musical folklore.
Any hopes that it could be the soundtrack to her recent emancipation from conservatorship were also dashed.
Guy adds: “I actually asked her lawyer recently if they could put it out, but they said no. One day it will come out I’m sure, but it won’t be tomorrow.”
