Britney Spears fans call police to her home after she deletes her Instagram account

Britney Spears was visited at her home by police after fans became worried for her welfare when she deleted her Instagram account.

Fans voiced their concern for the 41-year-old singer when they spotted she had taken down her social media page, which is followed by millions of users around the world.

Following the takedown, deputies from the Ventura County Sheriff's Office received calls from alarmed fans and responded by paying a visit to Britney's Calabasas home to see if she was in danger.

Britney has deleted her social media page multiple times in the last year.

This time however, the Ventura Co. Sherrif's Office responded to calls from her fans and went to her home at 11pm.

Following the visit, law enforcement sources told TMZ that there was "no reason to believe she was in danger".

The concern comes after Britney admitted "she's learning" and shared a video as she got a "regretful" tattoo.

The singer also told fans she had changed her name on Instagram to River Red.

"River red ?? Britney honey what's going on," one fan asked. Another commented: "So cryptic."

Prior to deactivating her account, Britney took to the platform on Wednesday to share one last post.

In it, she wrote: "It gets better because that's what I aim for!!!

"Keep coughing playas and just remember to watch your back!!! Or you might just get caught!!! Yep sucks to be me."

Finishing her final post, Britney wrote: "Keep talking s**t or maybe it will just rain from the sky!!! Giving someone I love my everything only gives me the dagger in the heart!!!

"So at this point... I generously serve you my s**t... eat my s**t."

When Britney last deleted her account in December, her hsuband Sam warned fans to be wary of being 'overprotective' of her.

He wrote: "Social media can be traumatizing. Sometimes it's good to take a break. She has her voice and is a free woman. I have respect for her privacy and I protect it at all times.

"Thank you to all of her protective fans," he wrote amid fears from fans that Britney isn't in control of her own social media accounts.

He added: "Out of respect for her privacy I don't post her 247. I ask for permission if I ever do."

Sam went on: "I've always respected and supported her privacy with everything I've had. I ask of you supportive and protective fans to do the same.

"Sometimes being over protective can cause more stress and damage."
