Britney Spears' father Jamie has been suspended as conservator of his daughter's estate by a Los Angeles judge.
The judge ruled that it would be "untenable" for Jamie Spears to remain in charge of the pop superstar's conservatorship.
The 69-year-old was ordered to turn over the relevant documents to John Zabel, a certified public accountant, who has been appointed temporary conservator of the singer's $60 million estate.
Jamie's legal team had forcefully argued against his suspension, instead saying termination of the complex legal arrangement was the correct course.
However, the judge sided with Spears' lawyer, agreeing it was in the star's "best interests" that her father be removed.
The court was told Jamie's continued involvement was "toxic", as the Mirror reports.
It comes after Jamie agreed last month to eventually step down from his daughter's conservatorship after a years-long battle.

The pop idol had a public breakdown in 2007 and has since been in a conservatorship with her father, Jamie, who has responsibility for many parts of her life.
Britney, now 39, was 26 when power over her personal and financial affairs was handed to her dad.
The singer has been fighting to have the conservatorship overturned and makes the heartbreaking claim that she has been denied the right to marry her boyfriend Sam Asghari or have any more children.
In June Britney revealed how the conservatorship controlled every aspect of her life, including her birth control, medication and who she could marry.
Jamie Spears, 68, had filed a petition to investigate the claims his daughter raised.
In his filing, he and his team requested the court to "investigate the veracity of the allegations and claims made by Ms Spears," which he has vehemently denied.
He stated he only has his daughter's best interests at heart.
Britney has claimed her conservatorship is "abusive", comparing her treatment to those who have been sex-trafficked.
"The only similar thing to this is called sex trafficking … The people who did this to me should not be able to walk away so easily … I'm not here to be anyone's slave," she said.
