Britney Spears ' parents have been preparing for a showdown in court.
Their singing super-star daughter remains at the heart of a legal battle over her controversial conservatorship in which her dad Jamie has control of her finances and her career.
Lynne Spears, who was married to Jamie between 1976 and 2002, blasted her ex over his excessive fees for his attorneys, according to court documents.
New documents revealed Jamie responded to Lynne's accusations saying she was the one who "exploited" their daughter's "pain and trauma for personal profit by publishing a book".
In 2008, the mum penned a memoir Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World about their family.

Jamie made further claims that Lynne "has not been involved in their daughter’s conservatorship until very recently, and she is now raising objections to fees related to matters that she has no knowledge of", according to the documents seen by The Blast.
His claim went on: Lynne was "causing undue delay and expense in the administration of the Conservatorship, and ironically, stirring up more unnecessary media attention".
The judge overseeing Britney's conservatorship will hand down a verdict on accounting and costs in the ruling later today.
Los Angeles judge Brenda Penny confirmed in February that Jamie Spears must continue to share control over the singer's finances with the private trust company Bessemer Trust.
Her ruling upheld a decision to share power, which was first made in court in November.
Britney had been trying to have her father completely removed from her conservatorship.
Previously, Jamie defended himself in a statement to CNN which read: "I love my daughter and I miss her very much.
"When a family member needs special care and protection, families need to step up, as I have done for the last 12-plus years, to safeguard, protect and continue to love Britney unconditionally.

"I have and will continue to provide unwavering love and fierce protection against those with self-serving interests and those who seek to harm her or my family."
In a rare interview in 2007, Lynne said she blamed herself for Britney's troubles.
"I blame myself," she told Life & Style Weekly magazine. "What mother wouldn't?"
"I wish I'd been there more while she was touring. But I couldn't be. I had the other kids to look after."

Britney's conservatorship has grabbed the attention of documentary makers.
Framing Britney Spears, which was recently produced by the New York Times, shone a light on the singer's mental health battle and controversial conservatorship put in place after her breakdown in 2007.
BBC have also put their own spin on it with their upcoming documentary The Battle for Britney: Fans, Cash and a Conservatorship.
It will be broadcast on BBC Two on Wednesday May 5 at 9pm.
