Britney Spears craziest conspiracy theories - claims she's a clone and a political puppet

She's had an incredible career; from being America's sweetheart as a teen to suffering a public breakdown and then making a comeback and winning back legions of fans.

So it's perhaps unsurprising that conspiracy theorists have tried to determine how Britney Spears , 37, has enjoyed such enduring success.

The mum-of-two is going through a difficult time and recently entered rehab due to her father's poor health , but that hasn't stopped them from making bizarre claims about Britney's past.

From being a cloned to being a puppet of the Bush presidency, here's all of the maddest conspiracy theories about Britney.

Britney is a clone

Britney Spears' boyfriend Sam speaks out over claims she's 'severely distressed'

This theory claims that Britney and her then boyfriend Justin Timberlake were in a car accident shortly before the release of Spears's debut album ..Baby One More Time in 1999.

Cruel theorists claim Britney was decapitated and instantly killed in the wreck.

Her record label was forced to clone her so they'd could continue making money off her music, it's claimed.

They made several clones to use throughout her career, which theorists claims is proved by Britney's changing looks.

Britney's ups and downs throughout her time in the spotlight were allegedly caused by all the different women pretending to be the real thing.

Britney Spears breaks silence over 'severe emotional distress'

According to the theory, Justin was left with severe burns in the accident but is still alive and in a coma.

Yes, the man responsible for bringing sexy back is apparently a clone too.

Of course this theory can be debunked by the sheer fact that human cloning doesn't exist.

And it seems to be the invention of two US DJs, who were fired for starting the rumour that Brit had died.

Britney was a puppet for the Bush administration

Britney Spears' sister issues fierce warning to trolls mocking her mental health

Another conspiracy theory claims that Britney was used as a puppet by George Bush during his US presidency.

It's claimed that she helped drum up support for the invasion of Iraq due to her huge popularity.

When asked about the war, Britney told an interviewer at the time: "Honestly I think we should trust our President in every decision that he makes and we should just support that and be faithful to what happens."

When asked if she trusted Bush, she responded "yes I do".

Britney is being imprisoned by her dad

Jamie Lynn Spears fiercely defends her sister Britney from cruel trolls

Fans have launched the campaign "Free Britney" after rumours were started that she was forced into rehab against her will.

It was reported that Britney had checked into a health facility after her 66-year-old father Jamie underwent corrective surgery on his intestines and colon following a life-threatening rupture.

Britney's father continues to act as her conservator, after a court decided in 2008 that the popstar lacked the ability to make decisions for herself.

She was forced to deny that she'd been imprisoned against her will, saying: "My situation is unique, but I promise I’m doing what’s best at this moment. You may not know this about me, but I am strong, and stand up for what I want!

"Your love and dedication is amazing, but what I need right now is a little bit of privacy to deal with all the hard things that life is throwing my way."
