Britney Spears breaks silence after checking into mental health facility

Britney Spears has reassured fans that “all is well” following reports that she’d checked into a mental health facility after suffering from emotional distress.

In a video posted on Instagram on Tuesday, the singer explained her family had been “going through a lot of stress and anxiety” and that she “just needed time to deal”.

“But don’t worry, I will be back very soon”, she added.

It’s believed that Spears, who announced a hiatus from music in January, has been concerned over her father’s health in the past year, prompting her to cancel her Las Vegas residency.

In a caption posted underneath the video, Spears added that her family and team had been receiving death threats due to “crazy” rumours over her welfare.

“I am trying to take a moment for myself, but everything that’s happening is just making it harder for me,” the 37-year-old added.

Spears went on to accuse her former manager, Sam Lutfi, of “crafting” fake emails and pretending to communicate with her team via a counterfeit email address. Lutfi has denied these accusations.

“My situation is unique, but I promise I’m doing what’s best at this moment,” the Hit Me Baby One More Time singer continued.

Addressing her fans she added: “You may not know this about me, but I am strong, and stand up for what I want! Your love and dedication is amazing, but what I need right now is a little bit of privacy to deal with all the hard things that life is throwing my way. If you could do that, I would be forever grateful. Love you.”

Spears’ post has already garnered more than 3.9 million likes and thousands of comments from fans and celebrity supporters, including Miley Cyrus, who wrote: “We love u so much queen [sic]”.
