Britney Spears' boyfriend, Sam Asghari, has broken his silence to give his support amid controversy surrounding a TV documentary about her life.
The 39-year-old singer is the subject of Framing Britney Spears, which looks at how she has been treated by the media and the conservatorship which was placed upon her after she suffered mental health issues.
Actor Sam, 27, who stars in Family Business, has now issued a statement in which he pledges his support for his long-term girlfriend and how he want to help her create a better future.
Speaking to People, Sam said: "I have always wanted nothing but the best for my better half, and will continue to support her following her dreams and creating the future she wants and deserves."
He continued: "I am thankful for all of the love and support she is receiving from her fans all over the world, and I am looking forward to a normal, amazing future together."
Sam, who met Britney on the set of her Slumber Party music video in 2016, felt he had to speak out about his lover, after she had not authorised the documentary about her life.
They have kept their relationship reasonably private, with only the occasional moment of togetherness on social media.
In December, the singer celebrated her 39th birthday and posted a video alongside Sam, in which he jokes: "Okay baby, we get it. It's your birthday. We've been celebrating for a month. Let's move on."
During the coronavirus lockdown last year in the United States, Britney opened up about missing Sam after they were forced to quarantine away from each other.
Britney wrote on Instagram in April: "I have been quarantining since I got back from Louisiana weeks ago …. so basically I haven't seen my boyfriend @samasghari in what feels like a lifetime!!!!
"I have actually lost weight from missing him …. now none of my pants or shorts fit!!!!!
"Guess that's what missing someone can do ❤️ …. who else is experiencing this ????!"
