Britney Spears begs court to replace dad Jamie with mentor as head of conservatorship

Britney Spears asked for Jodi Montgomery to take on the role of head conservatorship of her person.

The singer, 39, has been under the conservatorship of her dad Jamie Spears since 2008 after her breakdown, meaning he has control of her finances and her life as well as her career.

Now it's said she's lodged a request to the court in Los Angeles.

In new legal documents, it's reported Britney wants her dad to resign from his position of looking after her person.

Instead the pop princess would reportedly like her mentor Jodi to take on the role as head conservator of her person, according to TMZ.

Already having learnt the ropes, Jodie had previously taken on the role of head of person temporarily to fill in for Jamie in September 2019.

It means she'll be in charge of Britney's personal decisions.

In this position, Jodi will be working with the Circus hitmaker on a daily basis and be responsible for the singer's wellbeing.

The new legal documents detail the powers of a head of person.

The powers include limiting visitors, recruiting caretakers, appointing security guards and contacting medical staff about any treatment for Britney.

As for limiting any visitors, this excludes Britney's access to her lawyers who she can see at any time she needs.

Jamie would remain in his position as co-conservator of her estate with Bessemer Trust, which means looking after her business and financial matters.

The next hearing about her conservatorship takes place on April 27.

Last year, a court was told her estate is now worth $60million (£43million).

Documentary Framing Britney Spears shone a light on the singer's story.

The documentary, produced by the New York Times, delved into Britney's mental health battle and the controversial conservatorship put in place when her life was spiralling out of control.

BBC Two have also done a take on Britney's life under the spotlight, which will air later this year.
