British woman killed and husband fighting for life in horror speedboat crash on holiday

A British woman has reportedly been killed and her husband is in critical condition after a boat crash in Turkey.

The 45-year-old Brit was travelling on a speedboat when it collided with a sea taxi off the coast of Marmaris.

Rescuers rushed to help the passengers after the crash, which took place at around 1.30pm.

The British tourist died and five others were injured, including her husband.

He reportedly came out of intensive care last night although he is still seriously injured.

Pictures from the scene show a speed boat with a huge chunk of its bow missing.

Four other people were injured in the sea taxi, including the 22-year-old captain and three tourists.

They had less serious injuries and were taken to Ahu hospital.

A coast guard source told The Sun : “They were riding on a speed boat when they crashed into a sea taxi travelling to Turunc.

“The husband is in intensive care but will be OK.”

A manslaughter investigation has been opened into the death.

A 44-year-old woman on holiday in Marmaris told The Sun that tourists saw the crash take place from the beach.

She added: "The sea was a bit chaotic with so many speedboats and para-sailing boats roaring around but no one ever expected this."

The holidaymaker claimed that one of the drivers was rumoured to have been fixing his hair when the crash took place, although nothing has been officially confirmed.

She added that the injured were in a "terrible state", while the dead Brit was brought ashore in a body bag.

Shocking CCTV footage appears to show the moment of the crash.

In the clip, a small boat crashes into a far larger vessel, causing water to splash into the air.

Nearby boats and jet skis then rush to assist the stricken vessels.

It comes after a British man died when a luxury yacht sailing near a resort in Sardinia, Italy, crashed into rocks, it is reported.

The 63-year-old man from England was unconscious but still breathing when first responders from the coast guard arrived at the boat off Porto Cervo on Sunday evening, local media reports.

However, medics were unable to save the man's life and he passed away at the scene.

Six other people were also on board the luxury vessel and all were said to have been hurt as a result of the tragic collision.

Authorities said the man suffered fatal injuries when the boat, which measured 70ft, collided with rocks just off the coastline.

It is believed that the yacht may have belonged to the man who died in the accident, La Stampa reported.

Emergency services rushed to the shoreline to assist those who were injured in the crash, including two passengers who are in a serious condition after being admitted to hospital.
