British woman 'dies after cosmetic surgery procedure in Turkey'

Leah Cambridge ( Leah Cambridge/Facebook )

A British woman has died after having cosmetic surgery at a clinic in Turkey, it has been reported.

Leah Cambridge, 29, is said to have undergone a "Brazilian butt lift" procedure, which reshapes the buttocks by transferring fat from areas including the stomach and back.

Ms Cambridge, a beautician from Leeds, is reported to have travelled to a clinic, which reportedly boasts celebrity clientele, including members of the The Only Way is Essex cast, in the city of Izmir for the £3,000 operation.

The exact cause of death has not yet been revealed but it is believed she suffered complications soon after the procedure.

The devastated partner of the mother-of-three has said her family are "still waiting for answers" over the tragedy.

Scott Franks, 31, said he had been left a "broken man" and warned others considering going under the knife to think about the risks.

"People need to be aware of situations that can happen with this treatment," he told The Sun.

"We are still waiting for answers and are also trying to get a flight to bring Leah home."

The huge popularity of curvier celebrities including Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner and Nicki Minaj has seen some women go to extreme lengths to emulate their hourglass figures.

Advocates of the Brazilian butt lift, or BBL, claim that it achieves results quickly and recovery is usually fast.

However, experts have warned it carries a risk of serious complications.

A Brazilian plastic surgeon, known as Dr Bumbum, was charged with murder earlier this month, after one of his patients died on the operating table during a similar procedure.
