British wildcard involved in heated Wimbledon dispute during first-round match

  • Bosnian tennis player Damir Dzumhur confronted British wildcard Arthur Fery and umpire Greg Allensworth during a fiery first-round match at Wimbledon's Court 16 .
  • The dispute began when Dzumhur claimed his serve hit the net for a 'let' at a crucial point in the second set, which the umpire failed to call, resulting in Fery winning the point and breaking serve.
  • Dzumhur accused Fery of not stopping play and then verbally attacked umpire Allensworth, questioning his competence and stating he made a mistake.
  • Following the disputed call and Fery's subsequent break, Dzumhur experienced a significant meltdown, losing the next four games in a row and ultimately the second set.
  • Dzumhur further escalated the situation by summoning match referee James Garner to complain about the umpire, while Fery attempted to maintain composure by wearing headphones, and it seemed to work as he went on to secure a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 victory to advance to the second round.
