British Transport Police launch CCTV appeal after two men injured during violent brawl on Central Line

Police have launched a CCTV appeal after two men were injured during a brawl on the London Underground.

According to the British Transport Police, the fight broke out on the Central Line during the evening of Sunday, August 24.

The suspect slapped a fellow passenger as the train pulled into Newbury Park Tube station in Redbridge, east London.

As the men threw punches on the platform, another member of the public attempted to intervene and was assaulted in the process.

The man then left the station and boarded a bus shortly after 11.45pm, the force said in a statement.

The BTP is now hoping members of the public can identify a person of interest two months after the incident.

An image released in connection shows a young man with curly black hair and of slim build wearing a black hoodie.

A BTP spokesman said: “Anyone with information, who recognises the man or who may have seen the incident is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016, or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference number 838 of August 24.

“Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
