Police are appealing for information after two boys travelling on a train set fire to a seat and pressed the emergency button.

British Transport Police (BTP) are investigating the vandalism on board a Balloch to Airdrie train, which they say cost nearly £5000 in damage and delays.

The incident happened between 9.40am and 10.10am on Wednesday, April 3.

The boys got off the train at Dalmuir station in Clydebank and continued to act disorderly.

Police say they got into a confrontation with a person who refused to allow them to re-board the service.
