British tourist killed and another injured after being shot by robbers outside five-star Argentinian hotel

A British tourist has been killed and another injured after gun-wielding robbers on a motorbike ambushed them outside a five-star hotel in Argentina, it is reported.

The attack happened when the two men, said to be aged 28 and 35, were stood outside the luxurious Faena Art Hotel in Buenos Aires.

The 35-year-old is said to have been seriously injured in the assault, with a bullet possibly entering below his arm and into his lung.

He was later pronounced dead, say local news websites who claim to have spoken to sources from the country's security service Naval Prefecture.

The 28-year-old was shot in the thigh or groin area during the violent struggle, which took place in the Puerto Madero neighbourhood around 11am local time on Saturday.

One news source said the two Brits were taken to Hospital Argerich to be treated.

A witness, named as Florencia told broadcaster Canal America 24 that he saw a commotion outside the hotel and one person covered in blood was being treated on the ground.

Florencia said he was told at the scene the victims were shot at in an attempted robbery.

According to neighbours, the motorcyclist shot the men in the process of robbing them. Shortly after, three ambulances arrived.

A police hunt has begun for the assailants and officers have asked for all CCTV footage in the area to be turned into them.
