British tourist dies in fall at popular Spanish viewing spot

  • A 38-year-old British man died after falling 400ft from Mount Urgull, a popular tourist viewing spot in San Sebastian, Spain.
  • The man's body was discovered by a passer-by on the Paseo Nuevo coastal walkway around 11am on Friday.
  • Emergency services attended the scene, but the man was pronounced dead, and a ladder truck was used to access his body.
  • The Basque police, Ertzaintza, have launched an investigation into the incident, and the body has been taken for an autopsy.
  • This is not the first fatal fall at Mount Urgull; a 65-year-old woman died in similar circumstances at the same location in 2019.
