British tourist dies after falling from a pedalo in Spain

A British tourist has drowned after falling off a pedalo he had hired on the Spanish coast.

The incident happened on Sunday, June 23 at around 5.40pm off the Regueral Beach in Cambrils, Catalonia.

Witnesses saw the 31-year-old, who has not been named, fall from the boat before he was dragged out to sea, according to local media.

Emergency services were called to the beach and paramedics performed CPR on the man, but they were unable to resuscitate him.

It is reported that the beach had lifeguards on duty during the incident, but warning flags were green, suggesting the sea was safe.

The beach is in the municipality of Cambrils in the province of Tarragona, in the north eastern region of Catalonia.

It is unclear whether local authorities are investigating the incident.
