British tourist, 23, vanished jet skiing off coast of Tenerife three days ago

The hunt is on for a missing British man who went missing from a jet ski off the coast of Tenerife three days ago.

Ricardo Scott Santana vanished at around 11.30am on Saturday near Palm Mar, just a few miles from the well-known holiday resort of Los Cristianos.

The search has been on for the 23-year-old after the jet ski he was riding was found abandoned in the sea.

Authorities have only just confirming the missing man is from the UK.

Divers are still searching the coastal areas of Palm Mar and they have been joined by rescue boats and helicopters.

The emergency services have also enlisted the help of professional diving volunteers to back up the underwater search.

The missing Brit was wearing red shorts and it is thought he may have jumped into the sea off his jet ski to take a dip in the water.

The alert was raised when he failed to reappear.

The search has been ongoing for three days (Twitter)

His friends have been tweeting pictures of him appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.

The British Consulate is assisting and providing support to family and friends while the search continues.

The hunt began immediately after the alert but has been called off each night since after no trace was found.

Police are also combing the beaches and rocky areas of the coastline.
