LONDON (Reuters) - Temperatures in Britain hit their highest ever in the month of July on Thursday, reaching of 36.9 degrees Celsius (98.42 degrees Fahrenheit), Britain's Met Office said.

The high temperature was recorded at Heathrow, London, and beat the previously July record of 36.7 C, the Met Office said on Twitter.

The meteorologists said there was still a good chance Britain could break its all time record temperature of 38.5 C.
