British soldiers filmed using Corbyn pic for target practice won't lose jobs

British Army soldiers filmed using a picture of Jeremy Corbyn for target practice will not lose their jobs.

The Paras who used the cutout of the leader of the opposition have been found guilty of misconduct but will remain in the Army.

The Ministry of Defence confirmed that soldiers in the clip, which came to light in April , have been punished - with the four soldiers filmed shooting and the cameraman being reprimanded.

The Mirror also understands that two of the soldiers involved have been demoted.

The footage captured in Kabul, Afghanistan, showed personnel from 3rd Battalion Parachute Regiment using the Islington North MP as target practice on a gun range.

It video, which circulated on social media, showed the soldiers in the regiment’s famous maroon berets unloading rounds into the face and body of a cutout of the Labour leader.

The words “happy with that” had been posted across the clip.

A Labour spokeswoman said the behaviour was “clearly unacceptable”

She added: “It is right that the Ministry of Defence has taken action.

“A culture of political violence has been whipped up by some politicians and sections of the media and has to stop.

“Breaches of impartiality of public institutions are a matter of concern for our democracy.”

Jeremy has always said that disagreements in politics must be conducted in a respectful way.

Today the Prime Minister’s official spokesman said the behaviour of the soldiers had “not fitting of the high standards” expected of military personnel.

An MoD spokesperson confirmed to the Mirror that a verdict had been reached.

They added: “The Army has carried out a thorough investigation into this incident and has implemented disciplinary action against the individuals found guilty of misconduct.e are always prepared to take action when our procedures are not adhered to correctly.”
