British sixth-form student dies in motorbike crash in Africa

A sixth-form student from Somerset has died in a motorcycle crash in Zambia, Africa, according to reports.

It is understood he was a pupil at the all-boys Sherborne School in Somerset and it is believed he died during the Easter holidays.

The pupil died shortly before he was ue to come home from Zambia, according to Eric Woods, the vicar of Sherborne.

Canon Eric Woods wrote the news in his weekly Western Gazette column, which was published on Thursday May 2, Somerset Live reports.

The passage read: "News came through today of the tragic death in a motorcycle accident of a sixth former at one of our schools just before he was due to fly home from Zambia for the start of the new term."

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office was unable to confirm whether a pupil from a Sherborne School had recently died in Zambia, but did confirm there was a recent British national death.

A spokesman said: "We are in touch with the local authorities following the death of a British national in Zambia, and stand ready to provide assistance to the family if required."

The school was unavailable for comment.
