James Bay has issued a heartfelt appeal to fans after two of his prized vintage guitars were stolen from his car in north London.
The 34-year-old singer-songwriter, known for hits like Let It Go and Hold Back the River, revealed the instruments were taken on Tuesday, July 1 as he prepares to head out on tour.
Describing the theft as his “first experience” of something like this, Bay said the guitars hold “great sentimental value” and shared images in the hopes of tracking them down.
Posting to Instagram, Bay wrote: “Hey everyone, this is my first experience of this (lucky to have avoided it until now).
“Tuesday 1st July, I had 2 guitars stolen from my car in North London. These are two vintage instruments of great sentimental value.”
The missing guitars include a 1960s Silvertone sunburst acoustic and a cherry red 1969 Epiphone Al Caiola model with double P90 pickups.

Bay urged fans and collectors to be on the lookout, and asked anyone with information to contact his team via email at info@closerartists.com.
He added: “I’d really love to get them back. Please ask any guitar players/collectors you know, or local or online stores.
“Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks x.”
The Brit Award winner is due to perform across Europe and South Africa later this year as part of his 2025 tour.
He’s also returning to his hometown of Hitchin for a special show this month, a meaningful stop, as it’s where he met his now-wife Lucy Smith.

The pair, who began dating in their teens, married in 2022 and welcomed daughter Ada Violet in 2021.
Bay recently released his fourth studio album Changes All the Time, which includes collaborations with Brandon Flowers of The Killers, The Lumineers and rising star Noah Kahan.
The album marks a new creative chapter for the artist, known for his blend of soul, folk and anthemic pop.
