Nottingham Forest have secured the return of midfielder James Garner on a loan basis from Manchester United - and the Red Devils supporters have very high hopes for the youngster as he looks to claim more first-team experience.
Garner, 20, enjoyed a breakthrough season in senior football last term; he was loaned out to eventual promotion winners Watford in the first half of last term, where he made 21 appearances, before he switched ends of the Championship and joined Chris Hughton at the City Ground, helping them to pull clear of potential relegation danger.
In that time Garner scored four goals in 20 matches wearing Garibaldi Red, including the opener in the East Midlands derby against Derby and the winner at Cardiff City.
It's certainly a transfer arrangement that will lift the gloom a little. Forest have started the season in miserable fashion, losing their first four matches which included the 1-0 reversal at Stoke City on Saturday.
United fans are hopeful that this time next year will be Garner’s time to shine in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first team, so they’ll be watching his progress from afar with interest.
This is what they’ve been saying.
