British Photography Awards 2019: stunning winning photos revealed

The winning images for this year's British Photography Awards have been announced. The successful entries were named at a ceremony held at The Savoy Hotel on January 28.

Over 3,700 British photographers submitted their work to be considered for the awards, which span a range of categories including: Best Portrait Photographer, Best Drone Photographer, Best Documentary Photographer and Best Selfie Photographer.

For each category a People’s Choice winner was also announced, for which the competition received some 74,000 votes in total.

Several industry contribution awards were also given out at the ceremony, world-renowned portrait and fashion photographer Rankin received a Fellowship Award, while celebrity photographer Richard Young scooped the British Photographic Associateship accolade. Frans Lanting was named International Photographer for 2019.

Hugo Donnithorne-Tait, awards director of the British Photography Awards, said: "These awards are pivotal in celebrating the rich heritage of our photographic culture. They inspire new practitioners and influence established artists. We are very fortunate in having such a distinguished Fellow to award in 2019, someone who has been a great source of inspiration to so many photographers the world over."
