British Paralympic swimming team staff positive for coronavirus in Japan

TSU -- A staff member in his 40s of the British Paralympic swimming team has tested positive for the novel coronavirus while staying in Suzuka, Mie Prefecture, for training camp ahead of the Tokyo Paralympics, the Mie prefectural government has announced.

According to the prefectural government, the 45-member team arrived in Japan on Thursday. All members tested negative for the virus at the time of their arrival.

In a test conducted Friday, the male staff member in question was suspected to be positive. He was confirmed to be infected the following day.

Eleven people had been in close contact with the man, and they are currently being quarantined individually at the team's accommodation along with the man.
