A British mother has been killed in front of her daughter after she was thrown out of an inflatable banana boat at the same Egyptian resort where a couple mysteriously died.

The woman, who is thought to be either in her 50s or 60s, was trapped underneath the boat off the coast of Hurghada on 28 August.

The incident took place only a week after two tourists died at the Steigenberger Aqua Magic hotel.

The group had been on a dolphin-watching tour before riding the banana boats back to the shore.

A man who on the boat, who did not want to be named, said the speedboat “bombed out” causing the banana boat to flip.

"I could hear the woman's daughter wailing, as she knew that there was something seriously wrong with her mum,” he told the Sun.

"They got the lady back on and they were doing chest compressions, but at no point were there any breaths given.

"I'm screaming at them 'open her airways' but they pushed me back."

The woman was pulled onto the speed boat and CPR was performed but she could not be saved.

A Thomas Cook spokesman said: “We can confirm that one of our customers sadly died last week while on an excursion in Egypt.

"We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family, and our welfare team continue to do all they can to support them at this time.

"We are urgently investigating what happened.”
