A British national has died in Sofia ahead of England 's Euro 2020 qualifier.
Bulgaria's Ministry of Interior has confirmed the death of a 32-year-old man who was in the Bulgarian capital to watch the game.
A spokeswoman said: "A 32-year-old man has sadly died.
"Police are working to clarify all the circumstances in this incident."
A cause of death has yet to be identified.
In a further statement reported by the Mirror , the spokeswoman said: "He is believed to have arrived in Sofia to watch the England v Bulgaria match.
"At 10am, police received reports of a man in a helpless condition in the area of Ivan Vazov and GS Rakovski Streets.
"The 32-year-old was taken by an ambulance team to a hospital for examination."
Other reports claimed that the man began behaving aggressively towards hospital staff and was being transported to a police station before he died.
The statement continued: "We are working with the prosecutor's office to establish the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. "
The death comes as thousands of England football fans gather in the city for the Three Lions game against Bulgaria tonight.
