British man dies from coronavirus on cruise ship confirms Japan Health Ministry

A British man who was aboard a cruise ship has died from coronavirus in Japan.

The Japanese Ministry of Health said the man was the sixth person to have died on the Diamond Princess cruise ship, which has been quarantined off the coast of Japan.

He is the first Briton to have died from coronavirus, also known as Covid-19.

In the UK, 19 people have been diagnosed with the illness.

The Foreign Office earlier said it was investigating Japanese news reports.

Earlier today, the first case of coronavirus has been confirmed in Wales, as two more were identified in England - bringing the total number in the UK to 19.
