A British man has plunged to his death from the sixth floor of a popular shopping mall in Thailand.
The man, said to be in his 50s, told security guards and passers-by that he was going to jump after he scaled a 1.5 metre high barrier and dangerously held onto the railings.
Staff at the Central Festival mall in Pattaya City rushed to the scene in the hopes of pulling him to safety but found him unresponsive on the ground floor.
A store employee and a witness told Coconuts Bangkok that they saw the man climbing the barrier and rushed over to try and stop him.
But the man let go of his railings and landed on the ground floor next to the escalators in front of shocked shoppers.

The incident happened at 5:30pm on Thursday, May 16, reported local media Siamrath.
He was immediately sent to Pattaya Memorial Hospital with broken legs, neck and skull and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Pattya Police inspector Pitak Noensang did not reveal the man's identity but said they have contacted his relatives.
According to Pattaya News, this is not the first time a tourist has committed suicide at the prominent mall.
Three years ago, a 71-year-old French man also jumped to his death from the sixth floor of the mall.
Just a month prior, a tourist described as a 40 to 50-year-old white man threatened to jump as he was confronted by shoppers and security guards.
Luckily he listened to their advice and got back to the second floor safely.
