British man and bystander die after ‘7th floor balcony fall from hotel’ in Spain

A British man has died after falling from a hotel balcony in southern Spain, killing another person on the ground below, according to local reports.

The man is said to have plunged from the seventh floor of the five-star Melia Don Pepe Hotel in Marbella, landing on top of another man.

Emergency services rushed to the scene in at around 2am on Saturday, but there was nothing they could do for either victim, news outlet ABCandalucia reported.

Spanish police are now investigating to determine the circumstances behind the incident.

One of the victims is said to be 46 years old, while the other’s age remains unknown.

A Foreign Office spokesman said officials were supporting the family of a British national in Spain after a death at the Costa del Sol hotel.

The spokesman said: “We are supporting the family of a British man following his death in Spain, and are in touch with the local police.”
