The British Heart Foundation is encouraging people to volunteer in its shops which are in urgent need of support after months of lockdown.
The charity’s 730 shops are starting to recover from the pandemic, with measures in place to keep staff and customers safe.
The coronavirus crisis has had a “devastating” impact on the BHF’s income, leading to research funding being cut in half.
The charity said voluntary work experience boosts CVs and improves the wellbeing of those giving their time.
Sarah Boardman, retail volunteering operations manager at the BHF, said: “The last year has been an incredibly difficult time for many of us and has significantly impacted people’s wellbeing, career development and confidence.
“The gift of time is vital to the BHF and we rely on the generous support of the public. Every hour given will help us raise funds to support the 7.6 million people in the UK living with heart and circulatory diseases.”
Volunteers can get involved in tasks such as telephone and logistical administration, merchandising on the shop floor and answering customer queries, as well as online roles and stock collection driving. Click here to find out more.
