British girl, 4, drowns after falling into hotel swimming pool during Egypt holiday

A four-year-old girl drowned after slipping and banging her head in a swimming pool while on holiday in Egypt .

A desperate bid to save little Skia Watson failed when her lifeless body was pulled from the water at the Seagull Beach Resort in Red Sea town Hurghada.

The child's distraught family say she was out of their sight for a "moment or two' when she fell.

It's understood that a lifeguard dived in to the pool to save Skia, Mirror online reports.

Holidaymakers looked on in horror as she was given CPR, but she could not be saved.

Her family from Bristol have now hit out at the resort.

They claim there was only one lifeguard patrolling a large pool.

The family also claim the lifeguard had no first aid skills.

A manager for the hotel has claimed that the girl was "not being watched", it was reported.

Skia died during a holiday with her sister Lystasia, 11, and other relatives.

According to the Sun, a witness reported that a family member said: “We lost sight of Skia for just a moment or two before she fell in but the lifeguard never saw her until it was too late.”

The relative is said to have claimed the lifeguard panicked, and ran with Skia in his arms before someone else performed CPR.

The manager of the four-star hotel denied the family's claims, telling the Sun: “It happened because the little girl was not being watched.”

Mirror Online has contacted the Foreign Office and the Seagull Beach Resort for comment.
