British girl, 14, goes missing in Majorca after vanishing outside secondary school

A British teenager has reportedly gone missing from outside her secondary school on the island of Majorca.

The girl, named locally as Taya O’Loughlin, 14, is said to have vanished in the city of Palma around 8am on Tuesday.

Her mum is understood to have reported her missing to police at 3pm the same day.

A specialist police unit has been put in charge of the case, according to local newspaper Diario de Mallorca.

The last sighting of Taya is said to have been outside Ramon Llull secondary school in Avenida Portugal in the island's capital.

Local reports said she was spotted with a Spanish girl who lives in a children’s care home.

She was wearing black trousers, white and black trainers and a grey top and carrying a black rucksack with flowers on it.

Taya is also described as around 5ft8in tall and weighing 66kg.

Police in Majorca could not be reached early this morning for comment.

The case is said to be being managed by a specialist National Police unit called UFAM, which provides family and women's assistance.

There was no immediate public comment from Taya’s mum over the missing person report.

Majorca, the largest of the four Balearic islands, is popular with both holidaymakers and expats from Britain.
