British female tennis stars to play behind-closed-doors tournament at Roehampton next month

London will play host to a five-day tournament for Britain’s leading female tennis players in July, although British No1 Johanna Konta is not expected to take part.

In the wake of Jamie Murray unveiling his Battle of the Brits – a singles and doubles showdown between the leading male players in the UK – the top female Brits will also go head to head.

The event is scheduled to take place at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton from July 14-18 between the leading 16 players in a round-robin stage similar to the ATP Finals. Eight doubles pairings will also compete.

Among the British players already committed to take part at Harriet Dart, Naomi Broady and Emma Raducanu, although Konta is believed unlikely to be part of the tournament while the likes of Heather Watson and Katie Boulter have yet to commit to playing the tournament.

Both the ATP and WTA have suspended their seasons until at least the start of August, with professional tennis having been on hold since the start of March.
