Ross Noble has been forced to postpone several upcoming shows after being hospitalised with a kidney infection, the comedian announced on Monday.
The 48-year-old British stand-up star, currently touring in Australia, shared the update with his Instagram followers alongside a photo from his hospital bed.
In the image, Noble can be seen giving a thumbs-up, with a cannula inserted into his hand.
Explaining the situation, Noble said he had been advised by doctors to rest and would miss several dates from his Cranium of Curiosities tour.
The show, which is running across Australia until September before heading to the UK in October, will resume once he recovers.
“I couldn't be more gutted to have to make this post,” he wrote alongside the image. “First up I am sorry for messing any of you around and second I am doing fine and recovering as best I can.
“In all my years of touring I can count on one hand the number of shows I have had to postpone due to illness.
“The show must go on and I am usually able to power through. Sadly this time I have been told by the doctor not to.'
He continued: “It is with deep regret I am having to reschedule my next few shows. I got what I thought was a regular sickness but to cut a long story short I am in hospital fighting off a b****** of a kidney infection.
“I will return recovered and ready to go asap.”
For fans with tickets to the affected performances, Noble reassured them that tickets would remain valid for the rescheduled dates, or refunds would be available. Venues will be in touch directly to organise the changes.
He ended his post by writing: "Thank you for your understanding and I will see you in no time fighting fit and back at it."
Fans quickly flooded the comments with messages of support, wishing the comedian a speedy recovery.
One penned: “Get well soon Ross”.
“Feel better soon!!!” a second commented while another echoed the previous statements, sharing: “Rest up mate”.
