A 15-year-old British boy is in a serious condition in hospital after allegedly stabbing his parents before jumping from a "considerable height" in Tenerife.

The incident reportedly happened in the area of Las Terrazas, in Costa Adeje, on Wednesday afternoon.

The teenager is currently in hospital in Playa de las Americas under police guard with “very serious injuries”, according to Spanish newspaper El Dia.

His parents, who are also British, are being treated in separate hospitals.

The boy is said to have thrown himself from the height of a fifth floor near a bus station after the alleged knife attack.

The family are believed to have been living in Tenerife, rather than on holiday, at the time of the incident.

Police are treating the alleged attack as an incident of domestic violence.

The investigation has now been handed over to the Spanish National Police.
