British boy, 4, dies after falling into swimming pool while on holiday in Spain

A four-year-old British boy has died after falling into a swimming pool while holidaying in Spain.

The tragedy happened this morning in La Vinuela, a small village in La Axarquia region a 50-minute drive north-east of Malaga on the Costa del Sol.

Local police were the first to reach the property after receiving a 999 call.

Paramedics were also dispatched along with an air ambulance but there was nothing they could do to save the youngster’s life and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The tragedy is believed to have happened at the home of the boy’s expat grandfather.

It happened around 10am this morning.

This morning's incident comes just days after five-year-old Theo Treharne-Jones died in a swimming pool in Kos, Greece, on Saturday morning.

The five-year-old's death is being described as a "tragic accident".

Neighbours described Theo as a 'lovely young boy' and said news of his death was 'absolutely heartbreaking'.

Theo, from Cefn Coed, near Merthyr Tydfil, south Wales, is believed to have wandered off from a group of 10 before breakfasted and went into the unattended pool.
