British Bollywood star Amy Jackson vows to support Indian Covid-19 relief effort

Bollywood actress Amy Jackson has praised a British health firm who responded to an urgent call for help from India, amidst the country’s continuing Covid-19 crisis.

Speaking to The Mirror from Cannes Film Festival earlier this month, the Liverpool born star was full of pride as a company from her hometown has stepped up to help the country where she found major fame.

“We’re all in this together across the world and we should be helping each other out like this and we’ve got to do even more,” the 29-year-old exclaimed when discussing the news that DAM Health Group would be sending vital equipment to India.

“I couldn’t be more proud that a company from my hometown is leading the way and helping overseas,” Amy continued.

India has experienced a catastrophic surge in coronavirus cases this year and infection rates are the highest ever seen, nearly tripling the peak in 2020. They are currently the world’s second worst-hit country and hospitals are struggling to cope with the number of new cases.

Stepping in to help, DAM Health Group, a Covid-19 testing companies based in Amy’s hometown Liverpool, has sent vital air-conditioning equipment plus Covid-safe protective kits including masks and sanitisers while also donating large sums to help fund ventilators in hospitals in the region.

Amy, who has a huge fan base in India following a string of smash hit movies, said: “This is a wonderfully kind gesture which is making a real difference to the lives of people in Kolkata who are being so badly affected by the ravages of Covid-19.

“The supplies sent across such as air-conditioning units and testing kits will help the situation immeasurably. It is incredible to see a Liverpool business stepping up to offer so much help. Frank Joseph and his team should be proud.”

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, the former Miss Teen World revealed she is looking at working closely with the health group as the world continues to battle the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

“While the success of the vaccine program is great in the UK, I care greatly about the health of India and other countries too,” the award-winning actress told us.

“I am going to be meeting with Professor Joseph and his team to look at what more we can do to help less developed countries who are still suffering the effects of Covid-19.”

DAM Health is a Covid 19 testing business which operates throughout the UK and Europe. The company also opened up new testing sites in Mexico this week.

The company is led by Professor Frank Joseph who said: “Tackling Covid-19 is a global effort. We’re working to keep the virus under control in the UK, but it is vital that we support other nations too. I am proud that DAM Health can help in this way.

"We're providing Covid 19 testing to people all over the world and particularly to holiday makers who are going abroad this summer. This is our way of giving something back.

"Amy is a massive star in India so it is lovely to hear her kind words about what we are doing to help the international Covid relief effort. I know she is very concerned about matters in India."
