British Army's 'how to wear a kilt' video leaves viewers in stitches over Scottish officer's patter

A hilarious British Army video on how to properly wear a kilt has left viewers in stitches over the 'amazing' Scottish soldier presenting it.

Colour Sergent Andrew Benson's side-splitting journey through the history of the famous garment and how it should be worn ha been hailed by YouTube and Twitter users.

Flanked by two glamour assistants, the squaddie runs through where on the knee it should sit, how high the sporran is worn and where the flashes must always go on the Highland socks.

And the "age-old" question of what a Scotsman wears underneath his kilt was almost revealed at the end of the video.

Thankfully the camera battery 'runs out' in time as one of the soldiers can be heard off-screen saying: "I don't wear a dress!?"

The Army captioned the Twitter post: "Ever wondered what a Scots soldier wears under his kilt...? We've got a new video all about kilts."

Fans couldn't get enough of the witty tutorial and thanked the host for putting right the 'travesty' of Mel Gibson's outfit in Braveheart.

Others called for the officer to be put in charge of future Army adverts.

Commenting on the YouTube video entitled "How to... kilts", user @blacksmith67 wrote: "I am delighted to see the proper way to wear a kilt demonstrated.

"It seems that ever since Mel Gibson wore a travesty of a belted plaid in Braveheart (depicting a time centuries before they existed) it has been popular for youngsters to wear kilts and kilt like things in every manner possible.
