British Airways plane drama as Edinburgh flight passenger falls ill on board

A British Airways flight from London was given priority landing at Edinburgh Airport after a passenger fell ill on board.

The jet’s pilot sent out a Squawk 7700 message to air traffic control after the alarm was raised shortly before 10pm on Tuesday.

It was sent shortly before they crossed the border.

Flight BA1460 landed safely in the capital with the traveller given medical assistance.

A spokesperson for British Airways confirmed the incident had taken place but stressed that it was not considered an emergency.

They told the Daily Record: “Our pilots requested a priority landing at Edinburgh Airport due to a customer requiring medical assistance, and the aircraft landed normally.”

Edinburgh Airport has been contacted for comment.
