British Airways plane comes within feet of tourists as swoops to land at airport

Gobsmacking footage shows the moment a British Airways plane came within feet of a group of tourists updating their holiday snaps as it came into land in Greece.

The jet narrowly misses the holidaymakers but some are seen being taken aback by the plane's force as it made its way onto the short and narrow runway at Skiathos Airport.

The airport is used to low landings and is a popular spot for plane spotters and tourists thanks to the landing strip located just yards from the sea and allows the public to legally witness landing and takeoff at hair-raising proximity.

And if you weren't convinced about how close you can get, there's even a sign which warns: "Danger please keep away from aircraft blast."

The video, posted by Cargospotter on YouTube , has been watched more than 800,000 times.

Part of the caption on the post reads: "Low landings and jetblasts can be observed on a daily basis and last week we filmed an incredible low British Airways Embraer E190 landing.

"The people who were watching the planes were pushed from the wall by the wake turbulence of the Embraer."

It also added: "We visited Skiathos for the fourth time in four years cause it's one of the most amazing places worldwide if you are interested in aviation and spectacular approaches.

There's even a danger sign in place (Cargospotter/YouTube)

"Sometimes, when the weather is good up to 100 people show up behind the runway to watch the planes land and depart."

Skiathos Airport, which is often dubbed the European St Maarten, only has a runway of 5,341 feet.
