British Airways passenger finds seat littered with 'filth and someone’s sock' after paying £4,700 for flights

A British Airways passenger was left 'outraged' to discover someone's old sock and a load of crumbs on her plane seat.

Lucy Darwin, who was travelling to New York with her husband for her film premiere, shared photos of the mess on social media.

The film producer from London posted to Twitter: "@BritishAirways just arrived at our premium economy seat to New York (£4,700) to greeted by filth and someone’s sock. Outraged doesn’t quite cover it."

A staff member from the airline replied to Lucy's tweet, saying: "This certainly isn't what you should expect when travelling with us, Lucy. I'll make sure this is fed back for you."

"May I ask did you highlight this to our crew, and if so what was the outcome? Lisa," they added.

Lucy then shared another photo of the fold out tray where she was seated, which was also covered with smears of food.

She posted: "It got worse.... cabin staff embarrassed and kind but this really is appalling".

Twitter users responded to Lucy's experience with comments saying it's 'disgusting'.

The £4,700 flight price was for two people - flying out in World Traveller Plus (Premium Economy) and returning in Club so the couple could sleep overnight on the way back.

Lucy told the M.E.N that she thought the tickets were "outrageously expensive" but that the journey "was supposed to be a treat for a special trip".

She said about three hours into the flight, the couple were offered to move, but that they couldn't be seated together.

A British Airways spokesperson said: "We pride ourselves on the quality of the service and experience offered across all cabins on our aircraft.

"We know that our customers value a comfortable cabin, so our aircraft are cleaned after every flight."

The airline confirmed they had not received a single other cleanliness complaint on any flight to New York that day.
