British Airways launches new flights between London and Cornwall for summer 2020

British Airways is set to make it easier for Brits to travel between London to Cornwall with the launch of brand new flights in time for summer 2020.

The airline is launching a new direct route from London Heathrow to Newquay, with the first flights set to take off on Thursday 2nd July.

It will be a seasonal route operating until Monday 7th September, running five days a week (it won't operate on Tuesdays or Wednesdays).

Brits planning their summer getaways can already book on the British Airways website with return fares starting from £90 in Euro Traveller (economy) or Club Europe (business).

It's worth noting that if it's Cornwall's surfing scene which appeals and you want to bring your own surfboard, the airline does accept this as a piece of checked luggage, provided it doesn't exceed the maximum weight restrictions and is max 190 x 75 x 65cm (75 x 29.5 x 25.5in).

You can find out more about the exact specifications and rules in BA's sporting goods policy- make sure to check as if your surfboard doesn't meet these, you may need to pay an extra bag charge or potentially have it sent as cargo.

Now, flights within the UK aren't exactly considered eco-friendly - but British Airways has said that it offsets carbon emissions on all of its flights within the UK, and is investing in verified carbon reduction projects including renewable energy and protection of rainforests.

British Airways isn't the first airline to offer flights between London to Cornwall - Flybe also operates a route between the two.

Londoners who can't quite find flights to work for their travel dates do have plenty of alternatives too - for example, you can get a direct train from Paddington to Truro, with fares starting from around £70 each way.

The journey takes approximately four to five hours, while the flight time between Heathrow and Newquay is estimated to take under an hour and a half.

Prices listed are correct at the time of writing but are subject to change and availability.
