British Airways flight makes emergency landing in Glasgow after 'technical issue'

A British Airways flight destined for America was forced to make an emergency landing in Glasgow after pilots noticed a ‘technical issue’.

The London to Seattle service was spotted circling over the Western Isles late on Sunday afternoon before making a mid-air u-turn.

The Boeing 787 aircraft landed at the Scots travel hub and was checked over by engineers after a ‘minor’ issue was discovered by crew onboard.

The flight departed again at 7.05pm and has since safely landed in Seattle.

A spokesperson for British Airways confirmed the incident had taken place.

They said: “Safety is always our priority and our experienced pilots diverted our flight into Glasgow after they became aware of an indication of a minor technical issue.

“Our engineers are currently investigating while our cabin crew look after our customers. We hope to continue the flight shortly.”

They later confirmed the flight had since landed safely in Seattle after leaving Glasgow on Sunday evening.
